With/And is a mental health company built on the belief that healing happens through authenticity — not despite our contradictions, but because of them. A lot of mental health brands sell “calm.” We're not selling calm. We're works in progress, in the messy middle, alongside you.
We create connection and promote healing across four formats:
Educational online content
Live events and retreats
Direct therapy services
Clinical training
Whatever the format, the invitation is the same: bring your whole self.
-
Our work is relational. We treat you as a person, not a problem. We bring compassion, not coddling — meaning we'll support you and challenge you at the same time. We're not here to polish you up. We want your first draft.
At With/And, we reject the binary — this idea that you can only feel one thing, be one thing, or want one thing at a time. We embrace dialectics. Our work makes space for contradictions: the mess, the paradox, the “yes, and,” the "both at once" — because that is, in fact, where the truest version of you lives. In practice, this looks like: sitting with the grief and the gratitude. Honoring the part of you that's healed and the part that's still tender. Recognizing that you can experience privilege and marginalization simultaneously. You are not a contradiction to be resolved. You are human.
-
You're in good company: our community includes people navigating life, identity, relationships, trauma, and everything in between. What do we all have in common? We just show up. That's it! That's the only requirement.
We're here for the complexity — yours and ours. If you're grieving and grateful, certain and lost, healing and still a little broken — this is for you. You don't have to choose.
-
Hard no. The vibes will be what the vibes will be. We're not here to perform wellness. We're here to show up as we are and actually do the work.
-
With/And isn't just our name — it's our philosophy. ‘With’ implies accompaniment. You're not doing this alone. ‘And’ holds multiple things simultaneously — the grief and the gratitude, the love and the hurt, the healing and the mess. Together, they communicate the core of our mission: partnership, complexity, and the belief that the middle of the process is just as valid as the destination.
This isn't either/or. It's with/and.

Right now, our direct therapy services are virtual. We aspire to one day have a physical community space we can call home. Our clinicians are licensed in a handful of states, primarily based in the D.C.-Maryland-Virginia (“DMV”) area. Contact us here to learn more.
Our workshops are offered in both formats: sometimes in-person in the DMV area, and sometimes virtual, depending on the event.
Our retreats offer the full, longer form, in-person experience.

Honestly?
Start wherever you're drawn. There's no wrong door. If you are unsure, reach out to us here and we'll figure it out together. That's kind of our thing!
-
Yes, and! We offer individual therapy, couples therapy, group therapy, workshops, retreats, and educational online content. You can start with one thing and move around — or do multiple things at one time. There's no one prescribed path.
-
It depends on the event, but every single one is built on the same foundation: you're welcome here exactly as you are. Our retreats and workshops are experiential, relational, and real. You might move, reflect, create, or just sit in a room with other people who are also figuring it out. We'll always tell you what to expect ahead of time — including whether friendship bracelets are involved.
-
It's bonafide, tried-and-true, actually useful stuff — made accessible, warm, and occasionally funny. We promise you will not find watered-down wellness content here.
Our courses and other resources are grounded in real expertise and designed to meet you where you are, whether you're new to this work or have been at it for years.

No — and that distinction matters. Our educational content and events are not therapy and they do not create a therapist-client relationship. These services can feel therapeutic in the sense that they're designed to foster real insight, connection, and growth. If you are looking for clinical support, our therapy services are the right fit. A good rule of thumb is: if it’s not called “therapy,” then it’s not therapy.

For our courses — yes. We believe in this work. If a course isn't resonating with you, reach out to us within 30 days and we'll provide a refund. No complicated hoops.
-
$99. And before you ask — yes, it's worth it!
The course gives you just enough to actually learn the skills without drowning you in content you don't have time for. We cut the fluff. What's left is the good stuff, plus a workbook PDF to follow along and make your own. Real tools. Real talk. No filler.
-
Totally. We are audiobook girlies over here, so we intentionally designed all of our courses to come with an audio-only option.
On that note: Accessibility is one of our core values. Our courses can be adapted to your needs. Just reach out and we’ll make sure your needs are met.
-
Ugh! We’re so sorry about that. Please get in touch with us and someone will get back to you right away so we can figure it out together. Contact us here.
live events
-
It depends on the topic, and every workshop has one. At its core, a workshop is a group of people gathered to learn something together. Not just read about it – do it.
Some workshop topics might include somatic movement, arts and crafts, spending time with a therapy dog, cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia (CBT-I), distress tolerance skills, self-compassion practice, or just a really good conversation that shifts something in you. Each one is creatively designed to go deeper into a specific skill or idea. Check out what's coming up here! No two are the same.
-
A retreat is a full immersive, experiential opportunity to do deep, meaningful work led by expert clinicians in community with a small group of others.
Retreats are in-person experiences built for the kind of intra- and interpersonal transformation that just doesn't happen in a 50-minute therapy session.
You can expect genuine connection, hands-on learning, and a well-deserved hiatus from your usual weekend routine.
-
Yes. Our community includes people navigating life stress, identity, relationships, past trauma, and everything in between. What everyone has in common is that they just show up. That's the only requirement.
You don't have to come polished or with your emotions neatly packaged. We want your first draft.
-
Intentionally and imperfectly — and we'll always be honest about both. We are anti-racist, trauma-informed, queer-affirming, and Health at Every Size aligned. We know that as two cisgender white women, our lens has limits, and we're committed to doing the ongoing work of checking and expanding it.
We discuss and uphold our community agreements at every event, and we take community feedback very seriously.
We also offer equity pricing for our workshops: Equity, Standard, and Standard Plus tiers. We believe that access matters.
direct services

A good friend listens. A good therapist listens and has the training, tools, and framework for helping you understand your patterns, shift what's not working, and heal what's been hurt — without making it about them.
Our work is relational. That means the therapeutic relationship itself is part of the healing. You'll be seen, challenged, and supported by someone who's genuinely invested in your growth — and who's also doing their own work.
We create connection and promote healing across four formats:
Educational online content
Live events and retreats
Direct therapy services
Clinical training
Whatever the format, the invitation is the same: bring your whole self.
-
Absolutely not. You don't even have to know what you need. Show up. We'll figure it out together.
-
Our approach is trauma-informed, anti-oppressive, and relational at its core. We hold the belief that you can be validated and challenged at the same time — compassion, not coddling. Each of our clinicians gravitate toward different modalities.
Brit is often talking about inner child work and compassion. She uses a lot of acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), internal family systems (IFS), and insight-oriented approaches in her work.
Alex integrates dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and mindfulness practice with contemporary psychodynamic, humanistic, and relational-cultural therapy styles.
-
If you're someone who's tired of pretending you have it all together, curious about your patterns, and ready to be in the “messy middle," you're probably our people. The best way to know for sure is to reach out and chat with us. We offer free consultations so we can get a sense of each other before committing. Contact us here.
-
We remember what it felt like to be new to this work, and we take that seriously.
At With/And, we're invested in the clinicians coming up in this field. That's why we've built training opportunities at multiple points in the professional development process. Whether you're just getting started or stepping into a new level of practice, come learn with us. The field gets better when we take care of each other.
-
We work with a wide range of concerns: relationships, identity, anxiety, depression, life transitions, trauma, grief, family of origin issues, emotion dysregulation, attachment styles, and those who are asking the question: what patterns end with me? If you're not sure whether your concern fits our expertise, just ask. We'll be honest with you! Contact us here.
-
Welcome. All of it is welcome. You don't have to be articulate or composed. Crying, swearing, awkwardness, functional freeze — that's not a problem. That's just you being human. Bring your whole self. We mean it.

You are worth taking good care of.
This reflects the going rate for therapists in the DC/Northern Virginia area — and we know it can still feel like a lot. A few things worth knowing:
We provide a superbill after each session, which means if you have out-of-network benefits (and most people do — it’s worth a quick call to your insurance to check), you may be reimbursed for a significant portion (50-80%) of the cost.
We also offer equity pricing for those who need it. Not sure what’s possible for your situation? Give us a call — we’re happy to talk it through and figure out what works.
-
Short answer: we don't take insurance.
Longer answer (and why we feel good about that): when insurance is in the picture, they get to decide how often you come, what you're being treated for, and when you're "done." We'd rather that be up to you. Your care should be led by your needs — not a billing code.
That said, you may be eligible for out-of-network benefits (typically 50-80% after you meet your deductible). Call your insurance company and ask — it's worth it. If you qualify, we'll provide a superbill and they'll reimburse you directly. Best of both worlds.
-
For workshops and events, we offer equity pricing — Equity, Standard, and Standard Plus tiers — because we believe access to this work matters. Similarly for therapy, we do have equity priced spots so don’t let capitalism be a barrier to getting support.
-
We hear this a lot, and we take it seriously. Bad therapy experiences are real — and they often happen when someone feels unseen or pathologized, when boundaries are crossed, or when they feel pressured to perform healing for their therapist.
We treat you as a person, not as a problem. Our work is relational, which means the relationship is an integral part of the healing process. You are not a diagnosis to be managed.
If it turns out we're not the right fit, we’ll help you find who is.
